Jacob’s dysfluent speech began at about the age of 3 1⁄2. We had attributed his dysfluent speech to a child just starting to grasp the English language. By 4 years old he was extremely dysfluent, which severely hindered his verbal growth. At this point our pediatrician strongly advised us to seek help. We wanted specialized help and were at a loss. Thank goodness for Elena and her wondrous help. She just knew what to do to keep Jacob interested and fluent. She was our second therapist as our first therapist was lovely, but useless. Most speech therapists just don’t understand stuttering, especially pediatric.
